Firebean Coffee Roasters and the Yukon Culinary Festival
Hey! It’s Michael with Firebean Coffee Roasters.
June brings The Adaka Cultural Festival. A Yukon Celebration of Indigenous Arts and Culture.
It kicks off June 28th, and its gonna be awesome! This years theme is “From The Land” and will feature cultural riches through art and song and story telling. This festival is so well organized and it never disappoints! Come on out!
We are excited to be guests again roasting and serving at this festival for the third year in a row! As you can imagine it’s a big one on our roasting calender, which has us pedaling 150 pounds of medium dark Guatemalan Coffee.
You can find the coffee at the festival gift shop (inside the Kwanlin Dunn Cultural Centre), at Wyke’s Your Independent Grocer, Riverside Grocery, Midnight Sun Emporium, and the Fireweed Community Market.
See you out there!
Hey! It’s Michael with Firebean Coffee Roasters!
It’s funny, I’m pretty sure not too many people say, “I want to be a coffee pedaler when I grow up”. I don’t think it’s a common career choice at the guidance councillor’s office (although maybe it and other jobs like it should be), but here we are.
The entrepreneur’s journey is a long and winding road, and we learn stuff every minute. It’s one of the best parts of the ride! And while I’ve had a number of jobs over the years, none have lit a fire under me like Firebean. Yes, even peddling at minus 30, and yup, even on the longest night.
So this is more of a PSA blog post. I encourage you to follow your fire too! Whatever that is, put small steps into action and manifest it!
You can make it happen!
I feel like I just scratched the surface of what is possible at Firebean Coffee Roasters, there is so many direction we can go and it’s all very exciting stuff! Thank YOU for the ongoing support!
One suggestion that keeps popping up is to invite YOU to the Firebean Coffee Experience. Let YOU stoke the fire, choose the bean and profile, climb on the bike and pedal a batch of your very own coffee. Then share it with friends and family (Or hoard it).
So would you practice this old school art and craft with us?
PS. don’t forget to visit www.firebeancoffee.ca and order Firebean Coffee online. We roast to order and ship weekly. Use discount code YUKON10 for 10% off at checkout. Orders over $59 ship FREE!
Thanks and STAY STOKED!
May hits big in Whitehorse! Everything comes back to life after a long cold winter and people prepare for another busy season. There is soooo much going on in Whitehorse all the time, it really is a fun and exciting place to connect and for us to grow a business. We feel grateful to be in such a vibrant ecosystem.
For those of you new to the Firebean Coffee World, we are a craft coffee roastery in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, pumping out some delicious coffee with the help of an old stationary bike, a wood-fire and one heck of a supportive community.
You can think of “Craft Coffee’ the way you probably think of “Craft Beer”. Take Winterlong Brewey here in Whitehorse for example. The owners are super awesome down to earth locals releasing some fantastic small-batch seasonal brews, heck they even crafted a RYE COFFEE PORTER with us (amazing by the way) …and they kick back to the community in really awesome ways. The emphasis is on quality and not quantity! craftsmanship and community.
Back to the busy part….
Up again for us this season is the Fireweed Market starting May 16th. This is a weekly farmers market in the heart of downtown Whitehorse, and a fantastic celebration of everything local. If you’ve lived here for a bit you’ve probably been, if you’re just passing through, it’s worth checking out!
We’ll also be at Wykes on May 11th for the local food vendor fair! Come by and say hi to all your fav local food vendors!
Also, we’ve been invited back to the Adaka Cultural Festival from June 28th to July 4th to roast and serve the Adaka Blend. (stay tuned for details on that one)
Thanks, stay Stoked!
